I would love to go back in time to the Biblical times as well. You’re so right about religion being based on faith, however; it would be nice to know by witnessing it myself instead of just reading and believing that what I have thought and believed all my life is true. I would also love to go back in time to my parents childhood. My parents often times tell me when I was little, or at the time when I was growing up, blah blah blah, and I would love to know if that is true as well. I would like to see with my own eyes the experiences that my parents went through and how they grew up. I think maybe it would let me understand them much better.

I love your idea of going back in time and spending time with those loved ones who have been lost. My aunt was murdered 8 years ago by a person we still don’t even know. We have leads and we have ideas, but we have actually stopped the investigation because it was very expensive and the fact is that we will never get her back. She was like a second mom to me and I would give anything to be able to see her and hear her voice again.

Time Traveling — Where would I go?

If time travel were possible, what would you do? Where would you go? Why did you choose to visit there? If you were to go back in time, would you worry about how one small change could affect the future?

If time travel were possible, I would go back in time to my high school years.  The years where my parents cooked for me, woke me up in the morning, I wasn’t on a budget, my laundry was done for me, and the years where I met my best friends. It was the time when tennis was really fun to me and not like a job. If I could choose to go anywhere I would go to Australia. One of my teammates in high school came to the United States from Sydney, Australia and she and her family are very good family friends of ours now. Recently she has moved back and she is missed dearly. If I were to go back in time I wouldn’t really worry about how one small change could affect the future. I guess now in 2012 even one small change could affect the future and I haven’t worried about it.

I really like your point on not seeing and viewing Valentine’s Day as a dreadful day. Two of my roommates are single and they made it a great day yesterday. One of them bought the other a big bear and the other one made a chocolate cake. It’s just the thought of everyone that really counts.

I like to think of myself as a good gift-giver as well and it kinda of hurts my feelings when I’ll think I gave a good gift and then I would just get a card or candy. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care and want anything materialistic, but I feel like if I put the thought into a good gift then at least put the thought into it.

Valentine’s Day

What are some of the best and worst gifts you’ve received on Valentine’s Day?

The best gift I’ve ever gotten was a kitten that I got just yesterday from my boyfriend of almost two years. He also got me beautiful roses and wrote me such a thoughtful card. However, the worst gifts I’ve ever gotten were random candies from Target or Walmart that obviously the guy didn’t put any thought into.   To me, it doesn’t matter what I get, but the biggest thing I want is the thought.

When you receive something you don’t particularly like, do you let the giver know? If so, how?

I don’t normally like to hurt other people’s feelings or let them know that I’m not satisfied with what I received because that just makes me look mean and high maintenance and well, kinda bitchy. (Excuse my language, I couldn’t find another word to describe what I was thinking) I will confront someone if I am in a relationship with them and it’s something I don’t like about how they’re treating me or what they’re doing, I’ll usually say something but in a nice, respectful, not trying to embarrass them kind of way.

From a public relations standpoint, if you worked for a greeting card company, florist or chocolate manufacturer, how would you persuade the public to buy from you rather than your competition?

There would need to be something that made my company standout. Maybe a quote, saying or some kind of marketing aspect. Buy two, get one free. I think that tactic would work at a greeting card company. I would have to persuade the public that buying my product is better and more economic than buying from another company.  I could possibly work a deal like buy a certain amount of cards and come in at a different holiday and buy one card, get one free. It would have to depend on the clientele of what the marketing/public relations premise would be.

You are 100% right on all of these! Respect is one that I didn’t put down on mine, but I think respect goes along with lying and talking behind others backs also. I feel like I am constantly saying please and thank you, and it would be nice if it was given back in return. The best one I like out of yours is cleaning up after yourself! I hate when there’s dishes piled in the sink or just mess all over the counters or floors. That’s another one I should have put on mine. Good thinking! :)

All of yours are something that now when I sit back and think it really does bother me. But you’re right about maybe if you don’t think about it then it won’t come to mind. My favorite one out of yours is about time. I usually am always early, if not all the time, then I’m on time. I can’t stand waiting for people when there’s been a set time to go to dinner at 7:30 and a person walks in at 8. It drives me crazy! I question, well since you weren’t here on time, do you really want to be having dinner with me or am I cutting into other things you have going on. Eating is another one that I have to agree with you on. I want to say to them, just close your mouth!

The Things that Annoy Me

What annoys you and why?

The biggest thing that annoys me is when people lie to me, talk behind my back, and eat my food.

My question is why lie? Eventually I will find out the truth and it will be worse for the other person than if they just came out and said the truth. Once the trust is lost between people it is very hard to get back.

The whole idea of talking behind someone’s back I don’t understand. My thing is if you have something to say and it’s that important to talk to other people about it and take up other people’s time hearing about it, then say it to my face. I’ve just always thought that people who talk negatively behind another person’s back has way to much time on their hands.

When people eat my food or drink my drinks it really drives me crazy. I am in college and on a budget just like many people are. I am given a certain amount of money a month and I use that money to buy food for myself, not others.

I don’t know if others feel this way or if I’m completely annoyed with things that will never really go away, but those three things are the things that are my pet peeves.

Blog Comments — Read Books or Watch Movies?

For me, I enjoy watching the movies before reading the books unless I know the author of the books and know the books will be great. It is very hard for me to get hooked on a book and even read past the first chapter if it doesn’t intrigue me. The two series that you put up are many people’s favorite books and movies. Good choice! :)

I am a lot like you when it comes to books and movies. I usually will watch the movie first and then read the book, but the books have to really grasp my attention for me to get motivated enough to read them. I love reading when I find a great book, but as far as finding a mediocre book, I’d rather just watch the mediocre movie.

Would you rather read the book, watch the movie, or both?

Would you rather read the book, watch the movie, or both? Why? Which do you usually prefer? What, if anything, has been your favorite book to movie adaption?

Personally I would rather read both the book and watch the movie, however; usually I will watch the movie, decide that I really enjoy the movie, and then read the book after watching the movie. I have done it in that order many times, but rarely do I read the book first and then watch the movie. I find that movies grab my attention faster than books do and once I’m intrigued with the plot, characters, and setting then I really really enjoy the book.

My favorite movies and books to date has been the Nicholas Sparks books. I actually read his book called “Safe Haven” first because there is not a movie out for it, but I really enjoyed reading it first. I am not a big reader at all so the movie grasps my attention and then I am more willing to read the book. Most of the time the book is better than the movie because of more details and better character details, but I still love watching the movie before reading the books.

What’s on your bucket list? Why did you choose them?

Here are 5 things I would do before I die:

1) Learn How to Ballroom Dance

I have always wanted to learn how to ballroom dance with my significant other when I get engaged. I want to be able to entertain others at my wedding instead of be the boring couple who just dances in a tiny square.

2) Travel Around Europe

My dad lived in Italy for a year while doing his Master’s degree in Architecture at Clemson.  During the Christmas break he showed us pictures and shared so many memories about not only living in Italy but also the crazy times when he would travel on trains to other countries. I want to be able to do that and get out of my comfort zone.

3) Go Ski Diving

I have a major fear of heights and I believe that ski diving with a guide who knows what he’s doing would help. I would be so nervous and I don’t think I would be excited, but it’s something that I want to do to conquer my fears.

4) Run a Marathon

Ever since I was a little girl I have always been physically active with some sort of sport, mostly tennis. I feel like when I stop playing tennis at Georgia Southern, my motivation to work out with be zero. I want to continue to stay in shape, but I want to feel the benefit out of it also. I think running a marathon will make me have dedication, motivation and will make me stay in shape.

5) Travel to Another Country for a Mission Trip

I have taken several mission trips in the United States, specifically in the South, but now I want to leave the country and go to a country where I am completely out of my comfort zone, solely relying on my independence and my faith. I didn’t realize how many people need help, even just a few miles down the road from me, but I want to make a difference in the lives of others who don’t speak English, who don’t have the resources that I do, and the ones who would look to me for guidance.

I’m not sure if you’re afraid of heights or not, but I am afraid of heights and want to get rid of that fear by going ski diving. I wouldn’t want to do it myself, but I would want to do it with a guide. Also, during the holiday break my boyfriend, family and I went to the Georgia Aquarium where we went to the penguin exhibit. It was so cool, but I don’t think I’d want to go to Antarctica. I think it would be too cold for me! :)

I really enjoyed reading your bucket list. Now once I’m reading other people’s blogs, I’m saying to myself, “yeah, I want to do that too!” I would love for my dad to walk me down the aisle on my wedding day along with both of my parents be alive for my wedding along with my brother and sister’s. Also, going to Australia would be so much fun! I have a friend I used to play tennis with who moved from Sydney to where I live in the Atlanta area and she recently moved back. Ever since I met her and heard the stories and memories she has of Australia, I really would like to go.
