I find that time management is key to what I’m doing in college too. It was hard this semester with traveling every weekend and practicing every day which I’m sure at the sorority house you always have things going on and things to do!

Just like you, I feel like each experience that I go through it will help me in the long run. It will teach me what to do better, what not to do next time and how to trust that God does have a plan for my life.

It’s that time of the semester. This week I ask that you reflect on the semester. What are the highs and the lows? What would you want to change & why? What have you learned that you will take with you in to the next semester? For those you who are graduating, what will you take with you into your first job outside college?
This semester has been a slightly difficult one for me. It’s been a semester of really highs and really lows but all of those experiences have made me a stronger, better person from it. A high has been tennis and my teammates that surround me daily, however; it’s been a low deciding whether I was playing my Senior year because I can graduate in December. It’s been a high of getting a really great internship during the Summer, but a low when Georgia Southern wouldn’t work with me in order to get a second internship in the Fall. It’s been a high that I’m in upper division PR classes but a low that there’s so much work. It’s been an interesting semester of a balancing act. A balance of how to get school work and studying down, a balance of a social life, and a balance of being an athlete. Putting those together it’s been stressful at times, but also very rewarding and I wouldn’t change it. Having what I have has given me opportunities that I could’ve only dreamed of. I think what I’m going to take into my last semester of college next semester is that really “everything happens for a reason”. Things come out of your life so that other things can replace it. When I graduate college in December, I want to keep reminding myself that I might not get my dream job right away, but each step I take gets me closer and closer to my goals. Those steps are helping me learn and experience things I need to experience to better myself.

I really like your idea of coming up with a group package which would entice “the more the merrier”.

The 2012 baseball season started recently. Are you a fan? Fan or not, if you worked for public relations team at one of the 30 major league teams, what would you suggest to entice people to come to a game? Special prices? Giveaways? Be specific in what you would do. Remember, it’s easier to have fans in the seats when your team is winning. Therefore, come up with two plans: one, if the team is doing well and a second, when the team is in a slump.
First off, I am a baseball fan of the Atlanta Braves. I live in the Atlanta area so the Braves games are the only ones I have ever been to, but they are so much fun!
If I were part of a public relations team and the professional baseball team was doing well in their season I would entice people to come to the games by throwing out giveaways throughout the game. I would also play game shows throughout the game where a group of people would be picked out from the audience and they would either win a free pizza, a free ticket to a game, or a prize money value.
If I were part of a public relations team and the professional baseball was in a slump in their season I would entice people to come to the games by giving special prices such as buy three tickets, get one free, or so the people will continue to come back to the games, if you buy a ticket you get a discount or free ticket for another game sometime throughout the season. I would also play game shows such as a section or narrowing it down to a row, would get a certain number of free tickets, maybe two, to come back to another game sometime throughout the season.

If you had the resources and the time, where would you want to travel? Why? What is it about the location(s) that make it desirable for you to want to visit?
If I had the resources and the time, I would love to travel to Spain and stay for at least 6 months. I have always wanted to become fluent in Spanish. I have been taking Spanish since 4th grade and I can understand and read almost anything in the language, however; speaking it is a different story. I can speak the basics but it takes me a little while. I feel like if I’m immersed in the culture and know that I have to speak the language then it will come easier. I was going to get a minor in Spanish until a teacher told me I would have to take History of Spanish in Spanish and I thought to myself this isn’t going to work. History in English was hard enough, so I changed my minor. My goal is to still become fluent in Spanish though!
Tweet for a Week

Before this week I had a Twitter account, but mainly used Twitter to look at other followers’ Twitter “walls”. After being obligated and made to Tweet for this past week, I do enjoy being able to Tweet, but I will never Tweet as much as I did in those five days. It was very hard to find things to talk about that would be importance to other people reading what was on my Twitter account. I enjoyed replying back and forth to Tweets, but not necessarily making up Tweets about what was going on in my life and the others around me.
I am a fairly private person and although I may not come off shy, I do not feel that everyone needs to know where I am and what I’m doing. Personally, I could probably use Twitter more now that I have used it for a little while, but I might make a few Tweets a week, not 30-45 Tweets. However; I feel like if you are following the right people and those people are following you then it would be a great way for business type news. For example, when I’m interning at USTA Southern this Summer and planning the Atlanta Tennis Championships with the professional men’s tennis players, I could go on Twitter and Tweet “Andy Roddick has committed to play at the ATC this Summer!” or “Don’t forget to buy your tickets for the Atlanta Tennis Championships for July 14-21!”.
I feel like that information such as news and updates for events is more important and valuable then Tweeting something like what you ate that morning or what someone is doing tonight. I think that I will continue to Tweet at least for the next few months including the Summer because of my internship. I don’t think I’ll Tweet on my personal account very much but on my PR account or on USTA’s account I will!

My parents are the same way as your dad. Since my mom is an anesthetist and my dad is an architect, I feel like both of them, especially my dad could use social media to promote his services and what his projects have been in the past. Social media has changed the way people look at things and think, therefore the other generations need to start acting like social media makes a difference in business.

Social media not only allows people to communicate all in one, but it can help with long distance, getting information fast and make sure that it actually gets to the other person.
Social Media to Other Generations

How would you, as a Millennial, who has practically grown up with technology and social media, convince someone in a different generation that social media can be effective ( if employed properly) to their business?
I feel like since my generation has grown up with the internet and gone from MySpace to Facebook to now Twitter being to the craze that it is not only entertaining and social, but it does help businesses promote their products and what they have to offer as a company. I would convince another generation to use social media by telling them and showing them research of what can happen if social media is used. I would give examples of other companies where social media has not only promoted their products and services but also made their company boom. I think that Apple is a good example of this because without social media Apple would never have gotten their products to be promoted when the iPad came out, then it was the iPad2 and now it’s the iPad3. The social media made the iPad go from nothing to something, and same with the iPhone.

I completely agree with the Disney Channel! All of those shows when we were kids were great and now they’re not good at all! My sister is 10 years younger and watches iCarly and something with witches and I sit there thinking these are awful!
